Spring Ahead

IMG_7735-4.jpg

See ya! We are peacing out for the weekend to recharge. Before we leave, we’ve rounded up the best news in health and wellness you don’t want to skip out on in this week’s #FreshFriday. Festival SZN (Mind Body Green)

What lineup are you most excited about this year? Perhaps one that includes a meditation? This year at the Okeechobee Music Festival in Florida, an NYC-based meditation movement group, The Big Quiet, will attempt the largest mass meditation in between sets. Known for holding meditations at large and busy NYC sights, The Big Quiet is confident in the fact that the sounds of the festival will provide a soothing session as it does in the city. The festival kicks off this weekend so we’ll be keeping our eyes out for pics and proof of this record-breaking meditation.

Siri Meal Prep For Me (Food Dive)

PlateJoy is known for its custom meal plans that include the number of meals you need in a week, organized ingredients to reduce food waste/save money and partnerships with grocery delivery services around the nation. The company launched a new app this week called PlateJoy Health: Diabetes Prevention that has weight tracking and virtual coaching so those with prediabetes can potentially avoid developing the Type 2 form of the disease. With 90 million Americans at risk for Type 2 Diabetes, this is the type of tech we like to see emerging. The best part? Insurance companies including Blue Cross Blue Shield cover the cost of the app for patients.

I Be Up In The Gym Just Workin On My Fitness (Well+Good)

La la land is known for its excessive amount of fitness options and Well+Good is sharing 10 of the newest to hit the city this year. Our favorite picks include Ritual Gym, Y7 Silver Lake,Gloveworx Century City and KNOCKOUT. Last but not least Mind, Body and Soul at OUE Skyspace takes the cake where a variety of classes from meditation, pilates and yoga will be held on California’s tallest open-air observation deck. Check out the rest in the link above.

Girl Power (ELLE)

Sneakers aren’t just for guys even though the best drops only come in men sizing. Nike’s creating a new path with Unlaced – a retail concept just for women they released this week at Paris Fashion Week that includes shoes celebrating art and women. The online site will launch at the end of March with a store to follow this summer.

Have a great weekend!
