February 3 // #FreshFriday

Happy Friday, friends! We made it. We hope you spent your week eating avocado hummus bowls (see last week’s #FreshFriday for the DL) and hustling hard with whatever you are rocking right now. Time for some R&R, some spiked hot chocolate, and some #FreshFriday vibes.
Dumplings With A Side Of Food Waste (Fast Company)

Don’t worry, it’s delicious. Popular dumpling shop in Manhattan, Mimi Cheng’s, is famous for its handmade dumplings and homemade recipes. The owners have partnered with head chef (and total badass), Dan Barber, who has been leading movements all around the world trying to combat the problem of food waste. F.Y.I a single restaurant can throw out 25K – 75K pounds of food a year, #NOTALLGOOD. The crew at Mimi Cheng’s have reformulated and looked at things with a different perspective, therefore challenging the way we think about food. Pass the Bok Choy please!

When Your Workout Is A Work Of Art (WNYC)

Quite literally… New York’s hottest new gym is situated in the Metropolitan Museum of Art A.K.A one of the most pristine places in the world. The 45-minute class has you squatting in front of paintings and lunging in front of exhibits while the BeeGees, Lionel Richie, and Kiki Dee play through the loudspeaker. Laughing is highly recommended.

Embrace The Mess (Quartz)

While this may be incredibly hard for some, and incredibly easy for others researchers have found that ’embracing the mess’ can be incredibly powerful, especially creatively. A rigid structure can be inherently fragile, and a little more freedom can protect your sanity. With our hectic lives, we may place too much emphasis on the idea that ‘having a clean kitchen typically means you have your life under control’. Take, Benjamin Franklin, he managed to work towards self-improvement with no manila folders. What’s important to learn is to stop beating ourselves up when the mess does take over, as it might work in our favor.

Have a great weekend!
